Wiki wants...

When thinking about software we often speak about: > What the software wants to become?

# Wiki wants to change

We make a mistake when we view wiki as a software that achieves a result (such as making it easy for anyone to write together). Wiki is not a form of word processor, it is rather a philosophy of change.

# Wiki wants to be progressive

In it's early incarnation it applied this philosophy of change to writing and gave us Wikipedia. Wiki now wants to take on the challenge of doing the same to the process of making software.

This form of change, of human mediated dialogue, through new and evolving languages that we can express and design in wiki is at the heart of what we mean by progressive software.

# Wiki wants to be software

In this instance we understand that Wiki wants to be Software. When we work in wiki, we are not writing text, we are not creating documentation, we are instead involved in an agile design process together with others to create software.

# Wiki opposes the machine

Wiki offers an alternative to the vision of artificial intelligence, not in the sense of denying or seeking to replace the mainstream ideas of AI, but by taking a sidestep and redirecting the force in the service of a healthier form of evolution.
