Wiki

We use the word __wiki__ here with reference to how we use the term in the context of our work with federated wiki. This is perhaps close to its original meaning, but more specifically we have taken the liberty of redefining the term so it applies to the process of federated writing - where by writing we mean any form of story telling.

> Note: we allow ourselves some leeway here as most of the ideas, and practical work in this space come from Ward Cunninghams work on Federated Wiki, which in true wiki style borrows on the work of many other great thinkers.

A wiki is a website that provides collaborative modification of its content and structure directly from the web browser. In a typical wiki, text is written using a simplified markup language (known as "wiki markup"), and often edited with the help of a rich-text editor - wikipedia

# New definition > Note the following is a first go: > Wiki is the social process of collaborative authoring of mixed media documents that relate to each other using the collaborative link. As such it is a specific take on the concept of hypertext . The term alludes to a philosophical approach to social knowledge creation which we refer to as writing with strangers.
